What a con? This is infuriating as the app is very misleading in making you think that you will easily be able to back up your phone and restore it for free but instead it is a SCAM.
I was not made aware of this at all before until I went to restore the back up after factory resetting my phone. But when it comes to restoring the backup after I have reset my phone to factory settings, it won't let me restore the data that had been wiped from my phone because I have to pay for the full version. I backed up my phone data and it appeared to be backing up and I was misled into thinking that it was going well.
My phone needed a factory reset due to some problems that had recently been occurring on my phone. This app was at the top of my search results when I searched how to back up my phone data. It does work but not worth the price for a solution that should be simple and intuitive. This was a cheap lesson and could have been much worse. I am now the proud owner of software that I will never use as all other functions are better handled by google and completely useless to me. Customer service does not need to have technical knowledge but they certainly should know what it can and cannot do. Why not just read the database of chats, select the one you want to export and voila! Keep it simple! I am very annoyed that I was not put straight from my first point of contact. I almost feel like my personal data is at risk. However, in order to do this, you have to make a backup first, THEN view it, THEN export it. Of course I was directed to their refund policy which disqualified me because it wasn't a technical issue, and secondly, the software actually can export all WhatsApp messages but only in html or PDF. Wondershare suggested I do my export part by part which I was not going to do besides, I fixed my problem with backuptrans. I went ahead and purchased backuptrans which worked effortlessly and I pulled all 320,000+ messages from a single chat and exported to a text document totaling 10,380 pages. After complaining to customer support that their software doesn't export WhatsApp messages and only text messages as the WhatsApp option was not there in the export section, I was told my refund would be processed after a review.
